What is cs4fn?
Computer Science is no more about computers than the music industry is about microphones
Current Prize Competitions
cs4fn in conjunction with Queen Mary, University of London, the IT industry and other organisations run a series of competitions through the year. We also highlight other Computer Science linked competitions here. They can all be done for the prizes or just for fun. Whether you win or not you will learn some fascinating computer science just by taking part.
Make a two-minute computer science video for YouTube
What are you burning to tell people about computer science? Create a two-minute movie or animation, stick it on YouTube and you could win a trip to Google and an eeePC. Your video can be about anything with a computer science theme, but if you're stuck for ideas, why not tell everyone what CS is, or how Google works – or maybe why CS is different from IT? The trip and computer prizes are available to A-level students, but there are other prizes that anyone can win too. The competition is being run by the University of Cambridge and Google, and the closing date is August 15 2008.

Space is central to many computer technologies, from satellite navigation to the Internet. Now a new frontier has opened with the advent of space tourism and you could take part. Can you come up with a master plan for the future of space enterprise? The winners will have an opportunity to discuss their ideas with Computer Game Entrepreneur turned Space Tourist, Richard Garriott, after his stay on the International Space Station (ISS) this October. You need to be a UK school student aged 11-19 to enter. Closing Date is June 20th 2008.
